EfS Curriculum Exemplars and Sample Lessons

The Cloud Institute is delighted to offer web-based Education for Sustainability Curriculum (EfS) units for grades 3 - 8. These units are the first to be developed as part of a K – 12 regional curriculum development project by the Putnam/Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services, a collaborative of districts in Putnam and Westchester Counties in New York
State.
The Education for Sustainability Curriculum (EfS) units are multidisciplinary and combine engaging and relevant content with the highest quality pedagogy. The units address standards teachers are currently responsible for teaching and combine them with sustainability standards to focus on relevant issues in our society. In addition, this curriculum insures consistency between units both vertically and horizontally. This curriculum project is timely, important and urgent and will prepare students for participation in a global economy and sustainable future. The EfS curriculum is refined on an ongoing basis, based on teacher feedback and consultants’ expertise.
